Ruled out Sunday
Powell (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Thunder.
Analisi
Powell was an extremely late addition to the injury report due to lower-back soreness, and he'll miss his first game since Dec. 3. His next opportunity to play will come Tuesday against the Suns. With the veteran swingman sidelined, Pelle Larsson will enter the Heat's starting five, while Jaime Jaquez and Nikola Jovic are candidates for increased minutes off the bench.

It's not a great sign to see Powell pop up on the injury report so close to Sunday's 7:00 p.m. ET tipoff, but he'll continue to be evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can play against Oklahoma City. Powell chipped in six points (2-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during Saturday's 123-99 loss to the Pacers.

It was the first time all season Powell failed to score in double digits, and he didn't re-enter the game after exiting late in the third quarter with the Heat down by 19 points. Prior to that disappointing performance, the veteran wing has delivered more than 20 points in seven straight games, averaging 26.4 points, 3.9 threes, 3.1 boards, 3.0 threes and 1.1 steals while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor and 47.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Won't play due to court conditions
Powell and the Heat won't play Thursday's game against the Bulls due to condensation on the court, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The matchup was initially delayed for around two hours as the arena staff attempted to make the court playable, but the decision was ultimately made to postpone for the night. It's unclear at this time when the game will be rescheduled, though the league put out a statement noting a new date for the contest will be communicated at a later time.

Powell ended Sunday's 125-106 victory over the Pelicans with 34 points (11-15 FG, 9-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals over 29 minutes.

Powell torched the nets in the victory, knocking down a career-high nine triples in an extremely efficient performance. The veteran swingman is on pace for a career-best year and has scored 20 or more points in 24 of his 31 regular-season outings, including six with at least 30. Powell will likely continue to operate as Miami's top offensive option for as long as Tyler Herro (toe) remains sidelined, and the former has topped 20 points in six consecutive outings.
