Won't make play Saturday
Olynyk (trade pending) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Kings.
Analisi
Olynyk won't make his debut with the Pelicans on Saturday after being shipped to the team by the Raptors ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Once cleared to play, the veteran big man might be able to carve out a rule in New Orleans. In 24 games with Toronto this season, the 33-year-old averaged career-low numbers across the board with 7.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

The Raptors traded Olynyk, Bruce Brown, a protected 2026 first-round pick and a second-round pick to the Pelicans on Wednesday for Brandon Ingram, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Analisi
Olynyk had been a key piece off the bench for Toronto this season, averaging 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 15.6 minutes per game. With Daniel Theis (thumb/recently traded) no longer on the Pelicans, Olynyk should have a shot at the backup center role in New Orleans.

Jakob Poeltl is out with a hip injury Wednesday, clearing a spot in Toronto's starting lineup at center for Olynyk. The veteran big man logged 14 points, five rebounds and five assists across 23 minutes in his lone start of the season Dec. 26, making him a solid plug-and-play fantasy option against Memphis.

Flirts with double-double in loss
Olynyk closed Tuesday's 121-115 loss to New York with 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), nine rebounds and three assists across 22 minutes.
Analisi
Olynyk played a few extra minutes, starting the second half after Jakob Poeltl was forced from the game due to a hip injury. Olynyk fell one rebound short of his first double-double of the season, an indication of what he can do when afforded meaningful minutes. If Poeltl is to miss additional time, Olynyk could find himself in the starting lineup or at least in a more sizeable role for the short term.

Olynyk (calf) tallied four points (2-4 FG), two assists and one rebound across 17 minutes off the bench in Sunday's 115-108 win over the Clippers.

After missing three straight games due to a right calf strain, Olynyk was cleared to play ahead of Friday's 122-106 loss to the Bulls, but he didn't see any action in a coach's decision. Olynyk may just have been available in an emergency Friday, as he took back his familiar role Sunday as the Raptors' top backup center behind Jakob Poeltl, while Orlando Robinson dropped back out of head coach Darko Rajakovic's rotation.
