The Nets were already without seven players due to injury Saturday, and Russell's early exit only further complicates matters. Given that the 76ers were sitting on a 17-point lead coming out of halftime, the lopsided score may have contributed to the Nets' decision to hold Russell out for the final two quarters. Tyrese Martin and Reece Beekman could see additional minutes in the backcourt during the second half.

Russell provided 11 points (3-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, 12 assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Thursday's 113-110 win over Milwaukee.
Analisi
Russell didn't have a good shooting performance, and in a way, his numbers weren't as good as his 22-point, eight-assist effort off the bench in his Brooklyn debut against Toronto on Jan. 1. However, he salvaged the lack of scoring with an efficient playmaking performance. The 12 assists were his second-best mark of the season in that category. Expect Russell to remain in a prominent role going forward, even if he comes off the bench when Ben Simmons (back/rest) returns to action. However, Russell's long-term fit with the franchise remains cloudy.

Russell hit the ground running, beginning his second stint with the Nets following a trade late last week. Despite coming off the bench, he wasted no time asserting himself on the offensive end, something he had not been able to do during his time with the Lakers. While it is unclear whether he will continue to come off the bench or move into the starting lineup, what is clear is that he is going to be far more active in his new role.
