Thompson led all scorers in the Rockets' Christmas Day win, knocking down at least 12 field goals for the third time this season. The 22-year-old has taken a noticeable step forward offensively in his third campaign, pairing increased scoring with his versatile skill set while averaging 18.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals over his previous six games entering Thursday. Though a reliable three-point shot still hasn't developed, Thompson has emerged as a physical all-around threat.

Sniffs double-double in loss
Thompson provided 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-8 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and two steals over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 128-108 loss to the Clippers.
Analisi
Thompson eventually took a seat in the fourth quarter once the game was out of hand, but the lopsided margin denied him one last rebound to hit a double-double. Thompson managed an accurate night of shooting despite an overall lack of backcourt success against the Clippers, especially on defense, where they had no luck defending James Harden.

Sniffs triple-double in OT loss
Thompson amassed 18 points (7-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 45 minutes during Sunday's 125-124 overtime loss to the Kings.
Analisi
Thompson was very close to triple-double territory in the loss, falling a rebound and two assists short of the milestone. Thompson has had perfect attendance this season, and although he's averaging only 17.5 points per game, he's been a very consistent multi-category producer with uncapped upside when the game is flowing in his direction.
