Closing in on rehab assignment
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said Saturday that Arias (hamstring) is getting "closer" to a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Arias recently began baseball activities and hitting in cages following a brief pause in his rehab activity. Since he landed on the injured list in early April, Cleveland's middle infield has evolved into a tandem of Travis Bazzana at second base and Brayan Rocchio at shortstop. That leaves an infield utility role for Arias when he's ready to return; however, Daniel Schneemann can fill that same role.

Transferred to 60-day IL
The Guardians transferred Arias (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
The move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Stuart Fairchild, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Arias has been sidelined since April 6 due to a hamstring strain that he aggravated last week, but he has been able to resume baseball activities and could still rejoin the Guardians some time in June.

Resumes baseball activities
Arias (hamstring) has resumed baseball activities and hitting in a cage, MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said earlier this month that Arias hit a snag in his rehab, which pushed the infielder's return timeline out. The initial estimate of 4-to-8 weeks lined him up for a late-May return, but his potential activation date has now been pushed out to sometime in June.
