Out Tuesday with concussion
Washington has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Celtics after being placed in concussion protocol.

Washington exited Saturday's 111-107 loss to the Rockets due to what the Mavericks had initially labeled a head contusion, but the veteran big man is seemingly exhibiting symptoms of a concussion that resulted in him landing in the protocol. With Washington out for at least one game, Caleb Martin and Klay Thompson should see increased opportunity in his absence.

Washington suffered a head contusion during Saturday's game against Houston and will not return.

He played 25 minutes before leaving the game for good, finishing with nine points (4-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal. He can be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against Boston until more information is known.

Washington made his presence felt on both ends of the court, ending just one rebound shy of a double-double while posting at least two stocks for the fifth straight contest. Washington has been linked with a move away from the Mavericks before the Feb. 5 deadline, but until that materializes, he should continue to see a steady workload in the frontcourt. Washington is averaging 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in his last four contests.

Pops for team-high 21 in loss
Washington totaled 21 points (10-20 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 118-105 loss to the Timberwolves.

Making his first start since Jan. 14, Washington led the Mavericks in scoring as he produced his best scoring effort since Dec. 15, when he dropped 25 points in Utah. The 27-year-old forward has been in and out of the lineup in January to attend to a personal matter and deal with an ankle injury, and in six games this month (four starts), he's averaging just 9.3 points, 4.7 boards, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals in 26.3 minutes. Wednesday's performance suggests he's healthy and focused again, however, and a better February could be on the way as he continues to fill in for Anthony Davis (finger).
