Moving to bench Wednesday
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Hernandez launched an impressive long ball in the sixth inning, crushing a 443-foot blast to left-center field that completely cleared the bleachers. However, that proved to be the final run the Dodgers scored in their fourth straight loss. Hernandez has had a pretty quiet campaign with just 11 homers through 78 games, but he's been heating up in the power department of late. Over his past five contests, the veteran slugger has belted three homers while batting .421 (8-for-19) and collecting four RBI.

Hernandez produced the only scoring play for the Dodgers, taking Payton Tolle deep in the second inning. This was Hernandez's second homer in his last three games after he went 18 contests without one. He has gone 11-for-30 (.367) over his last eight games while maintaining a starting role in the outfield. He's batting .256 with a .736 OPS, 10 homers, 40 RBI, 45 runs scored, 12 doubles and two stolen bases over 76 contests this season.

Hernandez got a day off his feet as Los Angeles' designated hitter with Shohei Ohtani (knee) resting Thursday. The chance to focus on hitting seemed to benefit Hernandez, as he crushed a 412-foot solo shot to center field in the sixth inning for his first long ball since July 3 -- a span of 19 games. The veteran outfielder had just one RBI while batting a meager .177 during the homerless stretch. Hernandez did hit five long balls in August last year -- his most in any month aside from April -- so perhaps he's on the verge of turning things around amidst what has been a very quiet campaign by his typical standards.
