Loses OT duel with Joker
Wembanyama posted 34 points (8-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 16-17 FT), 18 rebounds, seven assists, five blocks and one steal over 40 minutes during Saturday's 136-134 overtime loss to the Nuggets.
Analysis
The third-year superstar led the Spurs in scoring en route to his 41st double-double of the season, but Wembanyama was just a little less productive than Nikola Jokic, who led all scorers on the afternoon with 40 points. Wemby has pulled down at least 15 boards in six straight appearances, all double-doubles, and over that stretch he's averaging a massive 30.7 points, 16.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 4.0 blocks, 1.5 threes and 1.2 steals as San Antonio tries to chase down OKC for the top seed in the Western Conference.

Off injury report versus Denver
Wembanyama (ankle) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game in Denver, Matt Guzman of SI.com reports.
Analysis
Wembanyama had a massive 41-point, 18-rebound double-double with three assists and three blocks in Wednesday's 127-113 victory over the Warriors. However, he didn't suit up Thursday versus the Clippers -- the second game of a back-to-back. With Wembanyama back in the equation, Luke Kornet, who got the start Thursday, will presumably head back to the bench.

Analysis
Wembanyama will be held out of the second leg of this back-to-back set due to injury management, and his next opportunity to play will come Saturday in Denver. With the star big man sidelined, Luke Kornet will likely get the starting nod, while Mason Plumlee and Kelly Olynyk are candidates to see increased minutes off the bench.

Analysis
The 41 points and 18 boards led both teams on the night, as Wembanyama bolstered his MVP case by tying the season-high scoring mark he'd produced in the Spurs' last game Monday against the Bulls. The double-double was also his 40th of the season, the second time in three years he's reached that mark. Wembanyama has scored 30-plus points in six of his last 14 games, averaging 29.1 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 3.4 assists, 2.6 threes and 1.2 steals over that span while shooting 53.0 percent from the floor.

Analysis
Wembanyama exploited a favorable matchup against 6-foot-7 fellow Frenchman Guerschon Yabusele, who got the starting nod at center for the shorthanded Bulls. Wembanyama put up a season-high 27 field-goal attempts en route to a season-high 41 points, and he has now scored at least 20 in five of the last six games. The star big man also grabbed a game-best 16 rebounds, securing his fourth straight double-double with 15-plus boards. Additionally, Wembanyama was productive from beyond the arc following a seven-game stretch in which he shot just 22.5 percent from downtown.
