Held in check by Rockets
Mitchell ended Saturday's 117-100 loss to Houston with 16 points (7-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals over 30 minutes.
Analysis
The 16 points represented Mitchell's lowest output since Oct. 29, as the Cavs' entire offense struggled against a stout Rockets defense over the first three quarters. The All-Star guard has drained multiple three-pointers in nine of his 11 December appearances, averaging 30.6 points, 5.4 assists, 4.1 boards, 3.8 threes and 1.4 steals on the month.

Strong second half in Tuesday's win
Mitchell ended Tuesday's 141-118 victory over the Pelicans with 27 points (11-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 30 minutes.
Analysis
Mitchell got off to a somewhat slow start offensively, but he helped the Cavaliers come away with the victory with 19 second-half points, and his 27 points were a game high. The veteran shooting guard has scored at least 27 points in eight of his last nine outings. Over that span, Mitchell has averaged 31.9 points, 5.2 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 4.0 threes and 1.0 steals over 33.6 minutes per game while connecting on 49.5 percent of his field-goal attempts (including 38.3 percent from three on 10.4 3PA/G).

Available Monday
Mitchell (illness) is available for Monday's game against the Hornets, Spencer Davies of SI.com reports.
Analysis
Mitchell missed Friday's loss to the Bulls due to an illness, but he will return for the front end of Cleveland's back-to-back set. Across seven appearances in December, the star shooting guard has averaged 32.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 34.7 minutes per contest. His return should mean fewer minutes for Tyrese Proctor, who got the starting nod Friday.
