Starts scoring in loss

Jones went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.

Analysis

With the Yankees down 4-0, Jones got his team on the board with a RBI double in the eighth inning and then was able to score on an error by Adrian Morejon. Jones had a great series against San Diego, going 4-for-11 (.364) with three RBI. The 25-year-old could be set to receive consistent playing time down the stretch with Trent Grisham potentially out for the rest of the season with a calf strain.

Productive again in win

Jones went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two walks, a third RBI, a stolen base and a second run scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

Analysis

Jones has homered in back-to-back games, and he logged his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 23. The 25-year-old outfielder has homered in four of his last 13 contests. For the season, he's batting .245 with a .771 OPS, nine long balls, 28 RBI, 27 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple and nine stolen bases on 11 attempts over 66 games. He's seeing a little more than a strong-side platoon role heading into the stretch run.

Accounts for team's only run in loss

Jones went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Angels.

Analysis

It was a quiet night for the Yankees offense, as the club collectively produced just six hits and one run while striking out 10 times. Jones at least prevented a shutout with a solo blast in the fifth inning. The long ball was his eighth of the campaign and his first since we went deep in back-to-back games Aug. 20 and 21. Jones has continued to start most games against right-handed pitchers even since Cody Bellinger returned from the injured list. Over 28 games in August, Jones batted .239 with four homers, five doubles, 17 runs, 13 RBI and five stolen bases.
