Lands on injured list
The Angels placed Schanuel on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Aug. 21, due to a right intercostal muscle strain Saturday.
Analysis
Schanuel existed Thursday's game against Houston due to side soreness and didn't play Friday. He's since been diagnosed with an intercostal muscle strain and will be sidelined for at least 10 days. The Angels recalled both Christian Moore and Gustavo Campero from Triple-A Salt Lake while also placing outfielder Wade Meckler on the 7-day concussion IL in a series of roster moves. With Schanuel sidelined, Vaughn Grissom is logging a second straight start at first base Saturday and could see steady work at that position for the time being.

Analysis
Schanuel left Thursday's game early with a side injury, and the Angels will give him an extra day to recover while they match up against left-hander MacKenzie Gore. His absence will cause Vaughn Grissom to move over to first base, opening up second for Oswald Peraza.

Schanuel was removed from Thursday night's game against the Astros with right side soreness.
Analysis
The Halos were clobbering the Astros 14-2 when Schanuel was removed from the game in the sixth inning. Prior to exiting, the first baseman was 0-for-4 at the plate with an RBI groundout and one run scored. Vaughn Grissom has moved to first base.
