Done in by fourth inning in return
Lodolo (8-7) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six batters over 4.2 innings.
Analysis
Lodolo made his first start since Aug. 4, as he spent over three weeks on the injured list due to a finger blister on his pitching hand. The southpaw began his outing in fine form, retiring the first nine batters he faced, but hit a roadblock in the fourth frame, when Los Angeles tallied four runs on five hits against him. Lodolo did manage to rack up 14 whiffs and six punchouts, so this wasn't an entirely disheartening outing. He still carries a strong 3.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 130:25 K:BB over 134.1 innings on the season, and his next start is slated to come against the Blue Jays next week.

Activated, starting Wednesday
The Reds reinstated Lodolo (finger) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Analysis
Cincinnati placed reliever Graham Ashcraft (forearm) on the 15-day IL to clear room on the active roster for Lodolo, who had been on the shelf since Aug. 5 due to a left index finger blister. Lodolo didn't go out on a rehab assignment prior to being activated, but he was able to get built back up to some degree with a three-inning simulated game this past weekend. The southpaw could be in line for a lighter workload than normal as he rejoins the Reds to make his 24th start of the season.

Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Lodolo (finger) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis
Lodolo has missed most of August due to a blister on his left index finger, but he's ready to rejoin the rotation as the Reds push for a playoff spot. The left-hander didn't make a rehab start during his time on the shelf, having instead thrown a three-inning simulated game last Friday. Lodolo's workload against the Dodgers on Wednesday could be relatively limited as a result.

Throws three sim innings

Analysis
Pending a follow-up examination, Lodolo could return to the Reds' rotation and start Aug. 27 against the Dodgers.
