Going on rehab assignment

Backhus (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Analysis

Backus has been sidelined since late April with left elbow inflammation but is finally ready to test things out in a game setting. Given how much time he's missed, the lefty reliever is likely to require a handful of rehab outings before rejoining the Phillies' bullpen.
