Not starting Game 2

Baez isn't in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis

Baez continued his recent hot streak by going 2-for-4 and a run in the first game of the twin bill, and he'll get a chance to catch his breath during the evening contest. While he rests, Trey Sweeney will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the Tigers.

Goes deep twice in win

Baez went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Pirates.

Analysis

Baez continued his bounce-back campaign as he recorded his second multi-homer game of the season and first since May 13. The veteran now has nine long balls this year to go with a strong .798 OPS. By comparison, Baez had only six home runs during the 2024 regular season, and he finished with a career-worst .515 OPS. The 32-year-old might not be as electric as he was during his time with the Cubs when he first broke into the majors, but he has still recouped plenty of fantasy value so far in 2025.

Huge performance in win

Baez went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, two RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 11-5 win over the Reds.

Analysis

Baez was a thorn in the Reds' side all game, falling a triple short of the cycle while homering for the first time since May 16. Though the 32-year-old entered Friday without an extra-base hit in June, he's now hit safely in nine of 11 games this month. He's slashing .284/.314/.443 with seven home runs, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored and one stolen base in what continues to be a surprisingly resurgent campaign.
