Tallies 27th homer
Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Friday against the Mets.
Analysis
Montgomery was the last of three consecutive White Sox hitters to go yard in the sixth inning, recording his 27th home run of the season. He's had a tough August, striking out at a 40.3 percent clip across 77 plate appearances while hitting just .217. Montgomery has still managed nine RBI and eight runs scored across 18 contests for the month, but he remains a volatile producer.

Three knocks in loss
Montgomery went 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs.
Analysis
Montgomery has logged a trio of multi-hit efforts over 15 games in August. He's batting just .217 this month, right on the nose with his mark for the year. Montgomery also has just four extra-base hits and eight RBI, as well as a 4:26 BB:K in August. He's showed plenty of power (26 homers, 20 doubles), but a 32.9 percent strikeout rate has been a limiting factor in his overall profile.

Exiting lineup against lefty
Montgomery is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Cubs.
Analysis
Montgomery had made 19 straight starts, but he's managed a lowly .539 OPS with a 39.3 percent strikeout rate over that span. With a lefty in Shota Imanaga on the hill for the Cubs, the left-handed-hitting Montgomery will get a day to regroup. Luisangel Acuna will cover shortstop for the White Sox.
