Goes deep in win
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 10-6 win over the Giants.
Analisi
Vientos opened the scoring with a three-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. The 26-year-old has now homered in each of the two games he's started since returning from the injured list Monday, and he's gone 4-for-10 in four contests overall during that span. On the season, he's slashing .219/.261/.413 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI and 27 runs scored across 264 plate appearances.

Analisi
Playing in his first game since July 9 after recovering from a fractured right hand, Vientos brought home the opening run by grounding into a double play in the fourth inning before adding a solo homer in the seventh. It was an encouraging return, though Vientos struggled to a .169 average against right-handed pitching prior to landing on the injured list, leaving him in what should be a platoon role over the final month of the season.

Activated, batting cleanup Monday
The Mets activated Vientos (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He'll start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in the series opener versus the Rays.

Vientos had been on the shelf since early July with a fractured right hand, but he's been cleared to return after going 9-for-23 with five home runs in seven rehab contests, including a three-homer game at Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. The 26-year-old will occupy a prominent spot in the lineup Monday against Rays lefty Ian Seymour and should be a mainstay in the starting nine when the Mets face southpaws during the final month of the season.

Vientos' rehab assignment appears to have come to an end, after the 26-year-old wrapped up his time in the minors on a high note by slugging three home runs Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse. Between stops with Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton during his week-and-a-half-long stint in the minors, Vientos showed no sign of his power being sapped by the fractured hand that has kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. Over seven games, Vientos slashed .391/.440/1.043 with five long balls and a 2:6 BB:K. Vientos had struggled to a .169/.220/.297 slash line over 159 plate appearances against right-handed pitching prior to landing on the IL, so despite his success on the farm, he could have to settle for a short-side platoon role upon his return.
