The Mets jumped all over Sandy Alcantara early, with Soto supplying a three-run long ball in the second inning to give his team a 5-0 lead. Soto has logged two hits in both of his last two games and has three home runs since returning from the injured list Aug. 29. For the season, he is slashing .279/.400/.536 with eight steals (in 11 attempts), 24 home runs and 59 RBI across 401 plate appearances.

Soto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during the Mets' 10-4 win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Soto capped the Mets' blowout win with a solo homer in the eighth inning, his 23rd of the season and second since returning from the IL on Saturday. The 27-year-old slugger was shelved by a Grade 2 calf strain for five weeks and figures to see most of his playing time as the Mets' designated hitter over the coming weeks, though he could return to the outfield toward the tail end of the regular season.
