In his first at-bat of the afternoon, Walker took Brayan Bello deep to left field for his MLB-leading seventh home run of the season. The ball left the bat at 103.8 mph and traveled 432 feet. He later blistered a single to center field. Hitting the ball as hard as anyone through two-plus weeks of the season, Waker is now slashing .327/.393/.745 with the seven homers, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and a 6:17 BB:K across 61 plate appearances.

Walker accounted for the Cardinals' lone run, launching a 429-foot blast in the eighth inning. He's in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak that includes five home runs and three multi-hit efforts. While it's a small sample, the 23-year-old appears to finally be delivering on his immense upside, slashing .314/.386/.706 with six homers, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base across 57 plate appearances this season.

Walker continues to swing a hot bat, as he was the only Cardinals player to record multiple hits Friday. After striking out in his first at-bat, Walker singled in the third inning and singled and scored in the fifth. Walker is 10-for-25 with four home runs, nine RBI, five runs scored, one stolen base and a 2:9 K:BB in his last six games.

The 23-year-old slugger took PJ Poulin deep for a solo shot in the seventh inning, kicking off a late Cardinals rally from a 5-2 deficit. It's the third homer in the last four games for Walker, a stretch in which he's racked up seven hits and eight RBI as he begins to convert his potential into real production. Through 11 contests to begin the season he's slashing .300/.364/.650 two doubles, four homers, nine runs, 11 RBI and a steal.

Settling in as cleanup hitter
Walker will start in right field and bat cleanup in Tuesday's contest against the Nationals.

This marks the third consecutive start in the cleanup spot for Walker, and all three of them have been versus right-handers. The last two of the games have come with former cleanup man Masyn Winn in the lineup, so it appears Walker is now Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol's go-to cleanup hitter. Walker slugged his third home run of the season in Monday's loss to the Nationals and is slashing .314/.385/.629 in his first 10 contests this season. He also ranks in the 99th percentile in hard-hit rate and 94th percentile in barrel rate.
