Undergoes second Tommy John surgery
Greene (elbow) will be out for 12-to-18 months after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analisi
The Reds had previously disclosed that Greene would require another operation on his elbow, and he ended up needing a full Tommy John repair. The right-hander's first Tommy John surgery came back in 2019, and he also had a procedure on his elbow earlier this year to remove bone chips. Greene will be out through the end of the 2027 season.

Transferred to 60-day IL
The Reds transferred Greene (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Analisi
Greene is out for the remainder of the 2026 season and is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2027 campaign after undergoing a second surgery on his right elbow to repair a partially torn UCL. Greene made just five starts this season, logging a 6.83 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB across 27.2 innings. He turned 27 years old last week.

Slated for another elbow surgery
Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall said Friday that Greene has been diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his right elbow and will undergo surgery next week, Brian Giesenschlag of Reds Live reports.
Analisi
The exact nature of the procedure will not be known until the operation is performed. Greene previously had Tommy John surgery in 2019 and underwent surgery in March to have bone chips removed from his elbow. Even if Greene doesn't require another full Tommy John repair, he will be in danger of missing a large portion of the 2027 season. The 27-year-old made only five starts this year after being limited to 19 starts in 2025.
