In his first at-bat, Montgomery belted a solo home run against Parker Messick to cut the Guardians' lead to one. It was the 23-year-old's first home run since July 12, breaking a drought of 19 straight games without a long ball. On the campaign, Montgomery is now batting .236/.316/.385 with four home runs and 23 RBI through 196 plate appearances.

Montgomery was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a skin infection, but after an additional team day off Monday, he was able to return to the lineup. He was one of the limited sources of offense for the White Sox, grounding out with runners on first and third in the sixth inning to knock in a run. Montgomery has performed well since the start of July, scoring 11 runs while driving in 12 across 26 games. He's hitting only .239 in that span, though he likely deserves better as he's maintained just an 18.6 percent strikeout rate over that same stretch.

A superficial skin infection in his right ankle resulted in Montgomery being scratched from the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Rays, but he's all clear after Monday's team off day. The White Sox scratched Montgomery from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays due to a superficial skin infection on his right ankle, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Analisi
The skin condition doesn't seem to be a major concern for Montgomery, but he'll effectively get two days to recover thanks to a team off day Monday. Everson Pereira will draw the start in right field in place of Montgomery, who is slashing .255/.339/.364 with zero home runs, one stolen base, eight RBI and seven runs in 15 games since the All-Star break.
