Goes eight innings in win
Gomber (5-10) earned the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits over eight innings while striking out six.
Analisi
Gomber ran into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered hits to three of the first batters he faced, leading to one run coming home for Atlanta. However, the lefty would only allow two more hits from that point on while going a full eight innings for only the second time this season. Gomber produced five 1-2-3 innings on the night and logged his highest strikeout total since Aug. 2 against the Padres. He's now gone six or more frames in five-consecutive starts, going 2-2 over that stretch while posting a 23:7 K:BB.

Quality start in Friday's loss
Gomber (4-10) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings as the Rockies fell 5-3 to the Orioles. He struck out four.
Analisi
The southpaw delivered his 10th quality start of the season on 90 pitches (59 strikes), but a two-run homer by Emmanuel Rivera in the fourth inning put the visitors in the lead for good. Gomber has given Colorado at least six innings in five of six trips to the mound in August, posting a 4.37 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 35 innings over that stretch. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Atlanta.
