Despite the uncertainty in Memphis, it appears as though Small could maintain standard league relevance for the remainder of the season.

Small had appeared in each of the Grizzlies' first six games following the All-Star break, averaging 13.2 points, 4.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 1.5 steals in 25.5 minutes per contest while shooting 51.1 percent from the field. The rookie second-rounder made his first NBA start against the Warriors on Wednesday and was in the starting five in Friday's loss to the Mavericks, when he logged nine points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and one three-pointer over 26 minutes. Small will return to the bench for Sunday's contest while the Grizzlies roll with a starting five of Walter Clayton, Scotty Pippen, GG Jackson, Jaylen Wells and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
