Analyse
James' G League debut didn't go as well as hoped. He posted six points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four assists, three rebounds, two steals and one assist in 31 minutes Saturday in South Bay's 110-96 win over the Salt Lake City Stars. James isn't on a two-way deal, but he's expected to get plenty of looks in the G League to develop and stay sharp, as he's not part of the NBA rotation.

Set to make G League debut Saturday
The Lakers assigned James to the South Bay Lakers on Thursday, and he is expected to make his G League debut Saturday against the Salt Lake City Stars, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

The Lakers will recall James prior to Friday's game versus the 76ers, but he will then be assigned to the G League for Saturday's contest. James is averaging just 1.0 points in 3.3 minutes across three NBA appearances this season, so he should receive increased opportunities in the G League.
