Struggles in spot start
Drummond closed with four points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 18 minutes during Saturday's 116-93 loss to the Pistons.
Analysis
Drummond was elevated into the starting lineup, although he offered very little in terms of tangible production. At this point, Drummond's role is completely reliant on whether Joel Embiid (illness) is healthy. As we saw Saturday, even when Embiid is sidelined, Drummond's production is too inconsistent to warrant sustained attention. At best, he can be streamed in for rebounds, on occasion.

Starting Saturday
Drummond will start Saturday versus the Pistons, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Drummond is getting the spot start with Joel Embiid (oblique) unavailable, and he'll be joined in the first unit by Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Kelly Oubre and Paul George. As a starter this season, Drummond owns averages of 8.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Shifts to depth role
Drummond chipped in four points (1-1 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, one block and one steal in nine minutes during Friday's 115-103 victory over Minnesota.
Analysis
With Joel Embiid returning from a one-game absence due to an illness, Drummond assumed a depth role, playing no more than 10 minutes for the third time in the past four games. Despite being a strong stream option whenever Embiid misses time, Drummond's role is simply too inconsistent to warrant any sustainable fantasy value.

Exits rotation
Drummond (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Monday in the 76ers' 119-109 loss to the Heat.
Analysis
Drummond had appeared in each of the 76ers' last seven games, averaging 5.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 three-pointers in 19.6 minutes during that stretch. However, his role had been trending down in the latter two contests, which coincided with Joel Embiid's return from a long-term absence due to an oblique strain. Drummond played five minutes of garbage time in a 20-point win over Chicago on Wednesday, then played six minutes at the start of the fourth quarter in Saturday's 118-114 win over the Hornets. Head coach Nick Nurse opted to lean exclusively on Adem Bona as Embiid's backup in Monday's contest, resulting in Drummond dropping out of the rotation.
