Rough outing again Tuesday
Miller allowed three runs on two hits and a walk across an inning of relief in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Pirates.
Analyse
Chicago already trailed 2-0 when Miller came on in the seventh inning, so the righty didn't take the loss, though he didn't help his team's cause, either. Miller allowed a three-run bomb to Jared Triolo, who has just a .599 OPS this season, to cap off the rough outing. This is the second time in his last three appearances that Miller has allowed three runs, but he still has a strong 2.61 ERA overall, so it's probably not time to hit the panic button quite yet.

Struggles in Friday's outing
Miller allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while retiring only a single batter in relief during Friday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.
Analyse
Miller was tasked with the bottom of the ninth inning in a non-save situation with the Cubs up 7-3. However, things quickly went awry for the righty, and Chicago eventually turned to Drew Smyly and then Keegan Thompson to record the last two outs of the frame, with the latter picking up the save. Miller saw his ERA climb from 1.64 to a still stellar 2.17 in the process. His previous success suggests he'll bounce back quickly from the rough outing, as this was the first time he allowed a run since late July, breaking a streak of 11 straight scoreless appearances.
