Back in action Saturday
Edman (ankle) will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and bat leadoff against the Mariners on Saturday.

Ankle soreness has kept Edman from playing in the Dodgers' last two games, but a few days of rest now have the 30-year-old ready to return to the starting nine. In 10 games since returning from the injured list, he's gone 9-for-38 (.237) with a homer, five RBI and six runs scored.

Nursing ankle injury
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Edman is not in Friday's lineup against the Mariners due to ankle soreness, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analyse
Edman appeared to tweak his ankle on a diving catch attempt during Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, which prompted him to sit out Thursday's contest. Roberts relayed that Edman's ankle is "a little sore," and with the Dodgers clinching the NL West in Thursday's win over Arizona, Edman will be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game for rest purposes. Edman will be joined by Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Max Muncy on the bench in Friday's series opener while Miguel Rojas starts at the keystone and bats sixth.

Sitting again Friday
Edman is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Mariners on Friday.
Analyse
Edman will be out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive game, though that presumably has more to do with the Dodgers capturing the NL West following their 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday. He'll join Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Max Muncy on the bench while Miguel Rojas starts at second base and bats sixth.
