Shaky while collecting eighth save
Iglesias picked up the save in Friday's 4-2 win over Boston after allowing one run on one hit in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analyse
Iglesias' uneven start to the season continued, as he's now given up five runs on 11 hits over his past five outings. Among the veteran right-hander's 19 appearances, only six of them have been perfect. Iglesias owns a 5.89 ERA and 1.42 ERA on the campaign, but he does sport a 20:4 K:BB and has converted eight of his 11 save chances as Atlanta's closer.

Notches save No. 7
Iglesias picked up the save Thursday against Washington, allowing one hit with no strikeouts over a scoreless ninth inning.
Analyse
It was a much-needed clean outing for Iglesias, who had surrendered a run in each of his last three appearances and had blown two of his previous four save chances. The 35-year-old has been uncharacteristically bad in 2025, posting a 5.71 ERA in 17.1 innings after notching a sub-3.00 ERA in his last five seasons, including a 1.95 ERA across 69.1 regular-season innings in 2024.

Blows another save
Iglesias (3-3) blew the save but picked up the win Monday in a 4-3 victory over the Nationals, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in an inning of relief. He struck out one.
Analyse
The beleaguered closer had another rough night as he coughed up a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, although Atlanta walked it off in the bottom of the frame. A Nick Allen error didn't help, but Iglesias has been tagged for eight hits and five runs (four earned) over his last three appearances, leaving him with an alarming 6.06 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 16.1 innings despite a 19:4 K:BB. He's converted just six of nine saves chances, and his average fastball velocity has slipped to 94.7 mph, his lowest mark since 2016. Pierce Johnson (2.45 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 17:4 K:BB through 14.2 IP) and Dylan Lee (2.16 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 18:6 K:BB in 16.2 IP) both appear capable of stepping up in save situations if Atlanta decided to move Iglesias into a lower-leverage role while he sorts things out.

Saddled with loss
Iglesias (2-3) took the loss in Sunday's contest at Pittsburgh. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.
Analyse
The veteran closer entered in the ninth inning with the score tied at 3-3 and failed to send the game to extras. Iglesias looked unsteady from the start, allowing two consecutive singles to open the frame, although neither one was hit hard. The game ended on a fielder's choice as the Atlanta infield was unable to convert a Joey Bart groundball into an out. After Iglesias pitched to a spectacular 1.95 ERA across 69.1 innings in 2024, he has struggled through 15.1 frames this season, pitching to a 5.87 ERA and 1.24 WHIP while already allowing six homers.
