Removed early from Saturday's game
Yoshida left Saturday's game against the Pirates in the top of the third inning after sliding into second base on a double, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Analyse
The 33-year-old slid head-first into second base after legging out a double and came up limping before being removed from the game. Officially, he exited with left hamstring tightness, per Ian Browne of MLB.com. Anthony Seigler pinch ran for Yoshida and will remain in the game as Boston's designated hitter.

Moves past illness, rejoins lineup

After sitting out the previous two games while recovering from a bug that had been making its way around the Red Sox clubhouse, Yoshida has made enough progress in his recovery from the ailment to rejoin the lineup. The Red Sox will hope that the abbreviated absence won't disrupt Yoshida's rhythm at the plate; over his last seven games, he's gone 10-for-27 with a home run, three doubles, two walks, seven RBI and five runs.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said that a bug has been making its way around the clubhouse, and Yoshida appears to be the latest victim.
