Matos is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest in St. Louis.
Analyse
Matos started the last two games and 12 of the last 13 games, but he will begin Friday's festivities on the bench. Drew Gilbert will draw the start in right field and bat eighth for the Giants in the series opener.

Matos is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analyse
Matos will get a well-deserved breather for the series opener in Colorado, after he had started in all 10 of the Giants' games since his Aug. 21 call-up from Triple-A Sacramento. Drew Gilbert will get the nod in right field Monday, but Matos appears to be locked into a near-everyday role after slashing .432/.450/.811 with three home runs and two steals following his promotion.

Big game in win
Matos went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Analyse
Matos had a two-run single in the first inning and a solo homer in the fifth. This was his fifth multi-hit effort over his last eight games since returning to the majors after a nearly three-week stint at Triple-A Sacramento. The hot hitting is helping him claim a starting role for the Giants as their primary right fielder, though he was in left field Friday while Heliot Ramos rested. Matos is now slashing .222/.263/.465 with eight homers, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and four stolen bases over 152 plate appearances this season.
