Marte's lone hit was a big one, as his eighth-inning solo homer tied the game 3-3. The long ball was his first since the veteran infielder was activated from the injured list Aug. 31. Marte made a somewhat abrupt return after a dramatic couple weeks during which he initially no-showed a game against Boston before landing on the restricted list and then on the IL due to a knee injury. The infielder was greeted by a chorus of boos by his home crowd upon his first at-bat, which ended with a groundout. However, Marte ultimately got aboard twice with a sixth-inning walk and an eighth-inning single. The Diamondbacks are currently half a game behind San Diego for the NL's final wild-card spot, so Marte figures to be a consistent presence in Arizona's lineup moving forward despite his recent antics.

The Diamondbacks activated Marte (knee) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Marte is back in the Arizona lineup Monday, starting in the designated hitter spot and batting cleanup in the series opener against the Phillies. The 32-year-old was a no-show for the Diamondbacks' Aug. 17 game against the Red Sox, which led to him being placed on the restricted list initially before he was moved to the IL with left knee inflammation.

Marte was initially placed on the restricted list when he failed to show up for a game at Fenway Park on Aug. 17. Both teammates and and team officials were left in the dark about the absence, before Marte and his agent met with general manager Mike Hazen and manager Torey Lovullo a few days later. The second baseman was then transferred to the 10-day injured list after an MRI revealed inflammation in his left knee.
