Blows save but grabs win Friday
Jansen (4-2) blew the save but picked up the win in Friday's 7-5 ten-inning win over Detroit, allowing a run on two hits in the ninth. He struck out two.
Analyse
Protecting a one-run lead in the ninth, Jansen gave up a leadoff single to Zach McKinstry before Jake Rogers drove him in with a one-out double, tying the game 4-4 and sticking Jansen with his fourth blown save this year. However, he'd wind up with the win after Boston responded with three runs in the top of the 10th. It's the first blown save in over a month for Jansen, who had allowed just two runs on two hits in 10 innings prior to Friday. The veteran closer is now 25-for-29 in save chances this year with a 2.98 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 56:15 K:BB across 48.1 innings.

Cruises to six-pitch save
Jansen notched a save against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.
Analyse
Brayan Bello bequeathed Boston eight scoreless innings, and Jansen was asked to finish off the shutout in the ninth. The veteran closer had little trouble doing so, throwing all six of his pitches for strikes and retiring the side in order. Jansen has converted all five of his save chances in August, giving up just two runs over nine innings and posting a 10:0 K:BB.
