Throws 61 pitches in rehab start
Gray (forearm) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five over 3.2 innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Analyse
Gray threw 61 pitches (37 strikes) in what he hopes was his final rehab start. He's made three starts -- two at Round Rock sandwiched around one in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The Rangers will evaluate the right-hander to determine if Saturday's pitch count and four up-and-downs are sufficient to activate Gray.

One more rehab game on tap
Manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Gray (forearm) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analyse
Saturday is expected to be Gray's final outing in the minors before returning from the injured list next week. The 33-year-old has made two appearances since starting up his rehab assignment, giving up two earned runs while striking out three batters over five frames. Because he has yet to last longer than three innings, he'll likely operate under a pitch count during his first few outings back with the Rangers. Otherwise, the team could use him as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen.

Work three frames in rehab start
Gray (forearm) struck out two and allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over three innings Monday in a rehab start in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Analyse
Gray had been scheduled to make his second rehab appearance with Triple-A Round Rock this past weekend, but a rainout nixed those plans. The Rangers instead had him head to the ACL, where he was able to tack an extra inning on to his workload after covering two frames for Round Rock in his first rehab start last Wednesday. Gray is expected move back to the Triple-A club for his next outing this weekend, and he'll likely need to make at least one more start in the minors after that before he garners consideration for a return from the 60-day injured list. The right-hander has been on the shelf all season after fracturing his forearm March 14, when he was struck by a comebacker in a Cactus League outing.
