Strikes out seven in first start
Harris did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Rays, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.
Analyse
Harris gave up a pair of unearned runs on an Isaac Paredes homer with two outs in the first inning before holding Tampa to just one run over his final 4.2 frames while matching a career high with seven strikeouts. The 27-year-old Harris had allowed four runs in 8.2 innings in a long-relief role with Oakland earlier this year and struggled to a 7.67 ERA in eight starts with Triple-A Las Vegas. Still, he could be in for another look in the A's rotation as they deal with a rash of injuries. The left-handed Harris would line up for a home start against Seattle in his next outing.

Called up, starting Thursday
The Athletics recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. He'll start the Athletics' series finale in Tampa Bay.
Analyse
Harris is back up with the Athletics for the third time this season, but he'll be starting for the first time after his prior two appearances with Oakland came in long relief. The southpaw has been a full-time member of the rotation at Las Vegas for most of this season, logging a 7.67 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 29:24 K:BB over 29.1 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Harris' numbers over parts of two seasons in the majors (6.78 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 64:31 K:BB in 71.2 innings) aren't much better, so he won't make for a dependable streaming option Thursday.
