Swelling still an issue
Wesneski underwent an MRI on Saturday that showed inflammation in his elbow, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analyse
Wesneski was placed on the injured list Friday due to the inflammation, but the team is waiting for the swelling to subside to make an official diagnosis. Manager Joe Espada said he expects it will be a few more days before that occurs, so the right-hander remains without a clear return timeline.

Heading to IL with sore elbow
The Astros placed Wesneski on the 15-day injured list Friday with right elbow discomfort, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analyse
Wesneski struggled during his last start Tuesday in Milwaukee, although it's not clear whether he was injured during that outing or sometime since then. He'll be eligible for activation May 22, but given the nature of the injury, there's a good chance he'll need more time than that. Ryan Gusto is the logical candidate to take Wesneski's spot in the Astros' rotation.

Troublesome first proves costly
Wesneski (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three in four innings.
Analyse
All the damage against Wesneski came in the opening frame and with two outs. Rhys Hoskins doubled in a pair of runs before Jake Bauers tacked on two more with a home run to center. Wesneski was able to navigate his way through three more innings before his day was finished at 80 pitches. Tuesday was the first time he's failed to reach five innings in an outing this season, and it was his first time since his debut he's issued multiple walks. With the Astros back down to their usual five-starter rotation, Wesneski is set to take the bump next week against the Royals.
