Carroll delivered the insurance run with a sacrifice fly as part of Arizona's four-run seventh inning. Earlier in the game, he extended an on-base streak to 14 contests, during which he's slashed .340/.452/.720 with five doubles, four triples, two home runs, five RBI, nine walks, two steals and 11 runs scored. Carroll, who experienced a slump coming out of the All-Star break (15-for-76, .197 over 19 games), looks ready to carry the Diamondbacks in their quest for a playoff spot.

Carroll has two steals over three attempts over his last five games. The star outfielder is 18-for-21 on the basepaths this season. His numbers are mostly down across the board compared to last year -- Carroll is batting .248 with an .834 OPS, 18 home runs, 57 RBI, 80 runs scored, 27 doubles and 15 triples over 125 contests. He's been a little more consistent in August, batting .257 (18-for-70) with a 12:14 BB:K this month.
