Blanks Giants in return to rotation
Bradford didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Giants, allowing five hits and two walks over 4.1 scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Analyse
After missing the entire 2025 season while recovering from an elbow injury that required an internal brace procedure that June, Bradford was brought along slowly after some renewed soreness in April and finally began ramping back up in July before being activated from the IL on Wednesday. He looked sharp in his season debut, albeit against a vulnerable opponent, and tossed 50 of 70 pitches for strikes before being lifted. The Rangers will also get Jordan Montgomery (elbow) back later this month, and Jack Leiter (ankle) could return in September, but Bradford made a strong early case to stick in the rotation. He'll look to get stretched out enough to pick up his first MLB win since Sept. 18, 2024 in his next outing, which is set to come on the road early next week against the Angels.

Activated for 2026 debut
The Rangers reinstated Bradford (elbow) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Giants in Arlington.

Texas placed MacKenzie Gore (personal) on the paternity list to clear a spot on the active roster for Bradford, who is slated to make his first appearance for the Rangers since Sept. 25, 2024 after a long recovery from his June 2025 internal brace surgery. The southpaw built up to four innings and 56 pitches over the course of four minor-league rehab starts, so he'll likely have a workload restriction in place in his first outing with the big club in nearly two years. Bradford had pitched effectively for the Rangers prior to undergoing elbow surgery, turning in a 3.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 70:13 K:BB over 76.1 innings in 2024.

Entering rotation Wednesday
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that Bradford (elbow) will return from the 60-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Bradford missed the entire 2025 campaign due to an elbow injury that eventually required Tommy John surgery, and a setback in his rehab program in early April extended his absence into the second half of this season. The 28-year-old southpaw is finally ready to make his first appearance for the Rangers since Sept. 25, 2024, after he closed the books on a successful four-start rehab assignment. In his final outing with Triple-A Round Rock last Thursday, Bradford built up to four innings and 56 pitches, so the Rangers will likely put a cap on his workload Wednesday.

Sharp in latest rehab start
Bradford (elbow) struck out seven and allowed four hits and no walks over four scoreless innings in a rehab start Thursday for Triple-A Round Rock.
Analyse
Making the fourth start of his rehab assignment, Bradford spotted 40 of his 56 pitches for strikes and induced 15 swings and misses. The left-hander -- who is working his way back from a June 2025 internal brace surgery -- has permitted just one run between stops with Round Rock and Double-A Frisco while posting a stellar 16:2 K:BB in 10 innings. While Jordan Montgomery (elbow) appears likely to beat him back from the 60-day injured list to take over a spot in the Texas rotation, Bradford could end up claiming a starting role once he's cleared to return. The 28-year-old will likely need just one or two more rehab starts before coming off the shelf.
