Singer unraveled in the fourth inning, surrendering six consecutive hits before recording an out as San Diego pushed across four runs. The 10 hits matched a season high for the right-hander, who has now allowed at least three runs in eight consecutive starts. Analyse
Singer experienced some rib soreness during his previous outing Tuesday, but he apparently made it through his between-starts bullpen session without incident. The veteran righty owns an unremarkable 4.72 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over eight starts since the All-Star break, but he's at least given the Reds some length, covering at least 5.2 innings in all but one of those appearances.

Reds manager Terry Francona said Wednesday that Singer is dealing with soreness in his ribs as a result of a fielding play during Tuesday's loss to the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
