Homers in return

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's spring game against the Royals.

Analysis

Ramirez returned to the lineup for the first time since a left-shoulder scare last Sunday. He announced his return early, when he swatted a no-doubt home run in his first plate appearance. The homer was Ramirez's third of the Cactus League and an indicator that he'll be ready for Opening Day next week.

Back in lineup Thursday

Ramirez (shoulder) is batting third and playing third base in Thursday's Cactus League contest against the Royals.

Analysis

Ramirez exited last Sunday's contest with shoulder inflammation and needed a few days off, but he's back in the lineup and appears to be ready to go ahead of Opening Day next Thursday. Ramirez has an .833 OPS with two home runs, nine RBI, three stolen bases and a 5:9 BB:K across 36 plate appearances this spring.

No imaging on left shoulder

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters Monday that Ramirez is "feeling much, much better today" after the superstar third baseman left Sunday's Cactus League game against the Athletics due to left shoulder inflammation, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Analysis

"We're going to assess [Ramirez] day-by-day. He should be fine in a few days," Vogt relayed during Monday's presser. Stebbins notes that there are no plans for Ramirez to undergo imaging on his left shoulder. That indicates the injury is not considered a long-term concern by medical staff and puts the superstar third baseman on track for Opening Day.

Dealing with shoulder issue

Ramirez (shoulder) exited Sunday's Cactus League against the Athletics in the fourth inning due to shoulder inflammation, SI.com reports.

Analysis

Ramirez is considered day-to-day after being lifted for a pinch hitter upon injuring the shoulder on a diving play in the field earlier in the game. With Opening Day still over a week out, the 33-year-old will have time to move past the issue to guarantee his availability for the start of the season.
