Fourth straight game with homer

Rice went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-0 win over the Royals.

Analysis

Rice's second-inning homer marked his fourth consecutive game with a long ball. The 27-year-old first baseman was a popular breakout candidate entering 2026, and he's delivered on those expectations to this point. Through 84 plate appearances, Rice is slashing .338/.476/.800 with eight big flies, six doubles, 18 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Homer streak at three games

Rice went 1-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in Saturday's 13-4 win over the Royals.

Analysis

Kansas City tried to pitch around the red-hot slugger, but Rice got ahold of a Noah Cameron fastball in the third inning and drove it 398 feet into the second deck in right field. Rice has gone yard in three straight games, and on the season he's slashing .339/.468/.774 with six doubles, seven homers, 17 RBI and 19 runs in 20 contests.

Homers again in win

Rice went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-2 win over the Royals.

Analysis

Rice gave the Yankees an early lead with a two-run blast in the fourth inning before adding a single and scoring a run in the eighth. It marked his second straight game with a homer and his sixth overall this season. While he's sitting against most lefties to open the campaign, the 27-year-old is slashing an impressive .339/.459/.746 with 12 extra-base hits, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and one steal across 74 plate appearances.

Taking seat again vs. lefty

Rice is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Analysis

Rice will be idle for the second game in a row while the Angels send a second straight left-handed starter (Reid Detmers) to the hill. Platoon mate Paul Goldschmidt will fill in for Rice at first base and will bat leadoff.

Taking seat versus lefty

Rice is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Analysis

Lefty Yusei Kikuchi is on the bump for the Halos in Monday's series opener, marking the third time in four contests versus southpaws this season that the lefty-swinging Rice has been absent from the lineup. Paul Goldschmidt will hold down first base and bat leadoff for the Yankees.
