Earns eighth straight double-double

Tatum provided 22 points (7-15 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals across 32 minutes during Friday's 142-105 win over Indiana.

Analysis

That's now eight consecutive double-doubles for Tatum, who took a back seat Friday to running mate Jaylen Brown's season-high 44 points but has now reached the 20-point barrier in 10 of his last 12 games. During Tatum's eight-game double-double streak, the superstar forward is averaging 28.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 3.8 three-pointers. Tatum is on pace for a career season in the rebounding department, and the Celtics will likely need him to continue crashing the boards at an increased rate as long as star big man Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) remains off the court.

Big Christmas Day double-double

Tatum (illness) ended with 32 points (11-20 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 15 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 42 minutes during Wednesday's 118-114 loss to the 76ers.

Analysis

After being a late scratch ahead of Monday's loss to the Magic due to a non-COVID illness, Tatum filled the box score with a team-high 32 points and 15 boards while logging his 15th double-double of the year in his Christmas Day return. Over his last nine games, the superstar forward is averaging a robust 30.1 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 3.9 three-pointers. If star big man Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) is unable to suit up for Friday's game against Indiana, Tatum would figure to shoulder even more of a load on offense than he already does for the Celtics on a nightly basis, likely making him an even more appealing fantasy asset in this case.

Playing on Christmas

Tatum (illness) has been cleared for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports.

Analysis

Tatum and Derrick White (hamstring) have been cleared for action Wednesday, while Jrue Holiday (shoulder) is out. Tatum has been dealing with this illness since Sunday, but he'll look to follow up on last year's Christmas performance which featured 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a victory over the Lakers.

24 December 2024

Iffy for Christmas Day

Tatum (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.

Analysis

Tatum was a late scratch Monday due to a non-COVID illness and is at risk of missing Boston's matchup against Philadelphia. Al Horford drew the start Monday and played 35 minutes while Luke Kornet saw an uptick in minutes off the bench. Both players would see expanded roles again Wednesday if Tatum can't play.

24 December 2024

Officially ruled out

Tatum (illness) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Magic, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports.

Analysis

Tatum was removed from the starting lineup and added to the injury report just minutes before Monday's tipoff due to illness. While he never joined the Celtics' bench, the team waited until halftime to officially rule him out. Al Horford, Sam Hauser and Luke Kornet should continue to see more action while Tatum is unavailable. Tatum's next chance to play will come Wednesday against Philadelphia.

24 December 2024

Removed from starting lineup

Tatum (illness) is no longer part of the starting lineup for Monday's game against Orlando but remains questionable, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Analysis

Tatum was added to the Celtics' injury report minutes before the game's scheduled tipoff and is no longer part of the starting lineup. He's yet to be ruled out, but it appears as though Tatum won't take the floor Monday. Al Horford stepped into the first unit in place of Tatum. Sam Hauser and Xavier Tillman could also see an expanded role if Tatum doesn't play.

24 December 2024

Late add to injury report

Tatum is now questionable for Monday's game against the Magic due to illness, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports.

Analysis

Tatum is feeling under the weather and is now at risk of missing Monday's contest. Should he be held out, Sam Hauser, Al Horford and Xavier Tillman could see more minutes.

Makes history in huge game

Tatum finished Saturday's 123-98 victory over the Bulls with 43 points (16-24 FG, 9-15 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 16 rebounds and 10 assists across 36 minutes.

Analysis

Per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald, Tatum became the first player in the storied history of the Celtics to produce a 40-point, 15-board, 10-assist line. The triple-double was his first of the season and the third of his career, continuing a hot streak that has seen Tatum deliver at least a double-double in six straight appearances even though he's been tending to knee tendinitis during that time. Over that stretch, the 26-year-old MVP candidate has averaged 28.5 points, 12.0 boards, 5.7 assists and 3.8 threes.
