Will make Detroit debut Wednesday
Paddack, who was acquired in a trade from Minnesota on Monday, is set to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Paddack will be taking the rotation spot of Reese Olson, who will miss the rest of the regular season due to a right shoulder strain. The former last took the mound on July 23, so it will be a full week in between starts for the righty. In 21 outings for the Twins this year, Paddack posted a 4.95 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 83 strikeouts across 111 innings. While he gives Detroit a veteran presence as the team deals with some injuries to starting pitchers, Paddack's numbers don't give fantasy managers much optimism that he'll be an impact player down the stretch.

Dealt to Tigers
The Tigers acquired Paddack and Randy Dobnak from the Twins on Monday in exchange for Enrique Jimenez, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Paddack has had an up-and-down 2025 campaign, posting a 4.95 ERA and 83:27 K:BB across 111 innings covering 21 starts. He is coming off a dandy of a performance his last time out on the road against the Dodgers, striking out eight over six innings of one-run ball. It was revealed Monday that Reese Olson (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season, and Paddack seems to have been brought in specifically to replace Olson in the rotation.

Stymies Dodgers with eight Ks
Paddack didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing one run on four hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out eight.
Analysis
Paddack was able to keep a dangerous Dodgers lineup in check, but he was taken deep by the red-hot Shohei Ohtani for a solo shot in the first inning. It was an impressive bounce-back effort by Paddack, who registered his most strikeouts since his June 1 start in Seattle and threw at least six frames for the first time since a June 7 outing versus Toronto. The right-hander's shaky 4.95 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 83:27 K:BB over 111 innings still render him tough to trust his next time out versus the Red Sox, who have a .823 OPS against right-handed pitching over 18 games since the start of July.
