Super Rare & Unique: Sorare 26 Gameplay Details

Jun 27 · 8 min read

Following our first Sorare 26 gameplay announcement and the follow-up blog, which addressed some key community questions, it’s now time to go deeper into what the season holds for Super Rare and Unique Managers.

Below, we will provide important context for some of the changes and offer more clarity on what to expect. From Unique Reward Boosts to Collection rule updates, it covers the key information to help you get ready for the new season.

As a reminder, these updates won’t apply to the ongoing MLS competition. MLS has its own dedicated competitions, so these changes won’t apply, avoiding mid-season disruption to ongoing strategies.

We also released a new podcast AMA with the Sorare team, where we walk through many of the changes and dive deeper into the reasoning behind them. For a focused segment on Super Rare and Unique gameplay, skip to [26:41–36:11].

The full prize pool breakdown for each competition will be shared in early July. Stay tuned.

Classic Gameplay

Let’s start with a change based directly on your feedback. We heard concerns around Classic card utility, and are excited to share that we’ve decided Super Rare and Unique competitions will not be merged in Classic gameplay.

To recap:

  • Super Rare and Unique will each keep their own Classic competitions
  • You’ll play in the 7-player lineup format, just like in Limited and Rare
  • Each scarcity will have dedicated All-Star, U23, and Champion Europe Classic competitions.
  • Since the scarcities remain separate, no reward boost will apply when playing a Unique card in a Super Rare Classic competition.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback and dedication.

Unique Reward Boosts

In In-Season competitions, Super Rare and Unique will be merged, as mentioned in our first announcement.

This merged structure allows us to build more meaningful prize pools and better progression from Super Rare to Unique.

That doesn’t take away from the importance of Unique cards, both In-Season and Classic. We are now able to clarify how Unique cards will unlock significantly higher rewards.

Here’s how the Unique reward boost system works:

  • +80% reward bonus per In-Season Unique card, meaning up to 5x the reward with a full In-Season Unique lineup!

Example: The 1st place prize in the Premier League competition will be $5,000* for a full Super Rare lineup. So a full In-Season Unique lineup would receive:→ $5,000 + $5000*400% = $25,000*

  • +20% bonus per Classic Unique card (as a reminder, you can include up to 2 Classic Unique cards in your In-Season lineups)

Example: The 1st place prize in the Premier League competition will be $5,000* for a full Super Rare lineup. So a lineup with 3 In-Season Super Rare cards and two Classic Unique cards would receive:→ $5,000 + $5000*40% = $7,000*

These examples don’t include the Sealing Bonus, which will boost your rewards even further.

These bonuses also boost your Essence rewards. We’ll share more details on how this works in the upcoming Prize Pool announcement.

*Amounts used in the examples above are subject to change. Definitive prize pools will be announced soon. Actual rewards may be awarded in cash or in ETH and may vary.

Collections Update

Super Rare and Unique Collections will remain separate. But because both scarcities now compete in the same lineups, we’re aligning the Collection-Bonus rules to keep things fair whether you field mostly Super Rare cards, mostly Unique cards, or a mix of both.

We are also revising the Collection-point matrix to make it easier for Managers to reach higher bonuses, especially for Uniques. Without this adjustment, a steep gap would remain: Unique supply rolls out more slowly, and some cards are issued through rewards rather than auctions.

This update makes every card more valuable to more Managers, which will:

  • Strengthen the market since more Managers can realistically reach the maximum bonus for a given club.
  • Boost reward value & secondary sales as each card now moves you meaningfully toward the next milestone.
  • Unlock more viable team builds as it will be easier to hit high collection bonuses across several teams.

Here’s what’s changing:

New Collection Bonus Milestones

Collection ScoreBonus
100 points+1%
200 points+2%
300 points+3%
400 points+4%
500 points+6%

Update to Collection Scores

Reaching these milestones will be easier thanks to the following updates to the Ownership Bonus (for Unique and Super Rare) and Long-term Ownership (for all scarcities):

Ownership Bonus (per card):

  • Unique: 50 pts (was 10 pts)
  • Super Rare: 30 pts (was 10 pts)

Long-term ownership:

  • +20 pts after 30 days (was 10 pts after 90 days)

Shortening the window from 90 to 30 days lets managers build competitive collections early in the season, while the higher +20 pts gives more value to lower-tier cards on the secondary market.

Here is the updated Collection Scoring Matrix:

Super Rare:

Unique:

Example

A Unique bought at auction now instantly grants at least 1 % Collection Bonus increase, whether you’re just starting your collection or already one step from the top.

  • 50 pts ownership
  • 20 pts first-owner
  • 30 pts serial #1

A Unique bought on secondary can reach the same 1 % after 30 days (ownership + long-term ownership + serial #1).

Super Rare – two Super Rare cards allow you to reach 1 % collection bonus instantly if bought at auction or after 30 days if bought on the Secondary Market:

  • 2 × 30 pts ownership
  • 2 × 20 pts first-owner / long-term ownership

We believe that these tweaks create a simpler, linear progression for both scarcities.

These changes will go live before the first European Game Week of the new season and will also apply to past-season collections.

MLS collections are the only exception to this change and will remain as they are, since the MLS competition isn’t affected by the scarcity merge. As mentioned above, the MLS’s dedicated competition allows us to hold off on major gameplay updates midway through the season.

Summer League Special Competitions

While we’re able to keep MLS competitions unchanged mid-season, these upcoming gameplay updates will apply to cards from the J.League, K League, Argentina, and Norway. Unlike MLS, these leagues will be included in multi-league In-Season competitions following the European season launch (similar to the current Contender structure).

In some way, these cards will benefit from the new gameplay setup (including stronger XP bonuses at launch), but we also recognize that some Unique Managers built their gallery around these leagues specifically, and that their strategy is being significantly impacted mid-season.

To acknowledge and support those Managers, we’re introducing a dedicated Special Unique Competition for the rest of the 2025 season:

Unique Summer League Event – Every Game Week

  • 🟣 Unique cards only
  • 🗓️ In-Season lineup rules: min. 4 In-Season, max. 1 Classic
  • 🌍 Covered leagues: J.League, K League, Argentina, Norway

💰 Prize Pool:

  • 1st place: $1,000*
  • 2nd place: $500*
  • 3rd place: $250*
  • Essence and XP rewards across the leaderboard

On top of this special competition, these Unique Managers will also be able to enter the newly merged In-Season competition, launching with the start of the European season. It was important for us to acknowledge their commitment and give them a meaningful way to compete throughout the remainder of the current season.

*These numbers reflect the maximum Game Week size and may vary during weeks with fewer covered teams in action.
*Rewards may be given out in cash or ETH.

Thanks again for your continued feedback and passion; it plays a key role in helping us shape and improve Sorare together.

Stay tuned, we’ll be back soon with the full breakdown of the In-Season competition structure and prize pools.
