How do Sorare NBA Card Levels, XP, and Bonuses work?

Every Sorare NBA card has a level associated with it, based on the number of experience points (XP) it has earned. All scarcities of Sorare NBA cards start on level 0 and have the ability to go up to level 10. Each level carries a bonus increase of 1% on the card's score in a tournament.

Cards also get a +5% bonus in the current season - so all In-Season cards will receive that bonus. Once the next season starts, that 5% bonus will disappear, but all the XP your card has accrued through use over the course of the season will remain.

Card transfers and XP impact: When a card is traded or sold on the secondary market, the XP accumulated on the card will halve by 50%, which will impact the card level.

XP Formula

Every card accumulates passive XP based on its lineup score, calculated as:

Passive XP per Game Week = Lineup score (without bonuses) divided by 5

Enhanced XP Interface
Managing XP and leveling up player cards is easier than ever. In My Cards, you can apply just the amount needed from your reserve to reach the next level. Only the required XP is deducted.

Leveling up and Cooldown Period
After a Card levels up, a cooldown period will apply before XP from your reserve can be applied again. The duration of the cooldown varies by Card level: the higher the level, the longer the cooldown period.

Here’s a breakdown of XP Level thresholds, cooldown periods, and bonuses:

Level XP additional level Accumulated XP Cooldown period XP Bonus Accumulated number of GWs to naturally reach the level Accumulated number of 500 XP boosts needed
0 0 0   0 0 0
1 200 200 1 day 0.01 4 0.4
2 400 600 1 week 0.02 12 1.2
3 600 1200 1 week 0.03 24 2.4
4 1000 2200 2 weeks 0.04 44 4.4
5 1500 3700 2 weeks 0.05 74 7.4
6 2000 5700 2 weeks 0.06 114 11.4
7 3000 8700 2 weeks 0.07 174 17.4
8 5000 13700 2 weeks 0.08 274 27.4
9 7500 21200 4 weeks 0.09 424 42.4
10 10000 31200   0.1 624 62.4

Cards earn XP linearly based on how frequently they are used, but they level up more slowly over time. Cards not in lineups will passively earn XP at a lower rate.

Collection Game

Managers can now gain scoring bonuses by assembling Collections of their favorite teams and players.

By building Collections of cards that match specific scarcity, team, and season criteria — like 2024/25 Chicago Bulls Rare Cards or 2022/23 Los Angeles Lakers Limited Cards — you’ll gain an edge with a Collection Score. As your Collection Score increases, you’ll unlock scoring bonuses that apply to every player card in the Collection.

Now, every player is increasingly vital to building the best lineups. See more details below — study up and get ready to collect!

Collection Rules

Collection Scores are based on player card attributes. Card attributes such as serial number, season edition, and ownership history/duration add points to a Collection’s overall Collection Score.

Collection Scoring

Collections are grouped and scored by Team, Season, and Scarcity. Collection Scores are calculated only for Pro Cards (Limited, Rare, Super Rare, and Unique). Common Cards do not have a Collection Score.

Player Card Eligibility

A player card’s eligibility for a Collection depends on the card’s corresponding team logo. Should a player change teams, their card remains associated with the previous team Collection, rather than a new one. Any new cards that are minted for that player will count toward their new team’s Collection. Further, players must have at least one card minted on a team to be counted toward a team Collection.
