Available against Indiana

Young (hamstring) has been cleared to play in Saturday's game against the Pacers.

Analysis

Young has been nursing a hamstring injury lately, but that won't keep him off the floor for Saturday's matchup in Indiana. The star guard has seen his point production go down this season, as he's averaging his lowest total since his rookie season (19.1) at 22.5 per game. However, he's distributing the basketball better than ever, with a career-high 11.4 assists per game.

31 January 2025

Likely to play Saturday

Young (hamstring) is listed as probable for Saturday's game against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Analysis

Young has played in the Hawks' last two games after sitting out of this past Monday's loss to the Timberwolves due to right hamstring tightness. He's averaged 18.0 points and 9.5 assists over 33.0 minutes over that span, but he's shot just 37.5 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from three on 8.5 three-point attempts per game.

31 January 2025

Shooting struggles continue in loss

Young put up 15 points (5-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 assists, one rebound and one steal during 32 minutes in Thursday's 137-115 loss to the Cavaliers.

Analysis

Young is now tied for eighth in the league with 28 double-doubles on the season and is the only guard in the top ten. Despite impressing as a playmaker, he posted dreadful shooting numbers in the loss and is now managing to average just 40.0 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from behind the arc this season. He's been particularly bad from downtown of late, shooting 24 percent from deep in his last five games. Luckily for his fantasy managers, he continues to make up for his lack of efficiency with plenty of volume.

30 January 2025

Officially good to go

Young (hamstring) is available for Thursday's game versus the Cavaliers.

Analysis

Young has been upgraded from probable to available Thursday despite dealing with right hamstring tightness. The star guard has struggled with his outside shot as of late, converting just 32.4 percent of his 7.4 three-point attempts per contest across his last five appearances.

29 January 2025

Expected to play Thursday

Young (hamstring) is probable for Thursday's game against the Cavaliers.

Analysis

After scoring 21 points during Tuesday's 100-96 loss to Houston in his return from a one-game absence, Young is back on Atlanta's injury report with right hamstring tightness but is expected to play Thursday. Over his last seven appearances for the Hawks, the superstar floor general has averaged 23.7 points, 8.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.0 threes in 37.7 minutes.

29 January 2025

Scores 21 points in return

Young totaled 21 points (7-16 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds and nine assists across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 100-96 loss to Houston.

Analysis

Young returned from a one-game absence after missing Atlanta's previous contest due to right hamstring soreness. Atlanta has been very careful with their key players this season, so that's something to keep in mind going forward. Looking ahead, Atlanta's next back-to-back set begins Feb. 7 against Milwaukee.

28 January 2025

Good to go against Houston

Young (hamstring) is available for Tuesday's game versus the Rockets, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Analysis

Young has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday after missing Atlanta's previous contest due to right hamstring soreness. The star guard's return to action should send Keaton Wallace back to the bench.

28 January 2025

Listed as questionable

Young (hamstring) is questionable for Tuesday's game versus Houston.

Analysis

Young sat out of the first game of the Hawks' back-to-back set Monday, presumably to be ready for Tuesday. However, it appears he still needs to get clearance from the medical staff, and that may not happen until he goes through warmups. Fortunately for Atlanta, Dyson Daniels (ankle) has been cleared to return to the lineup, giving the Hawks some additional depth in the backcourt.

27 January 2025

Won't play Monday vs. Minnesota

Young (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Timberwolves.

Analysis

Young will sit out of the first game of the Hawks' back-to-back set Monday, but since Atlanta had listed him as questionable on the initial injury report released just one hour earlier, he's most likely just getting maintenance and should have a good chance at playing Tuesday versus the Rockets. Dyson Daniels could slide over from shooting guard to see more playing time on the ball Monday in Young's stead, while two-way player Keaton Wallace could also be recalled from the G League's College Park Skyhawks to fill minutes at point guard.

26 January 2025

Still managing hamstring injury

Young (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against Minnesota, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis

Young played through a right hamstring injury during the Hawks' 117-94 loss to the Raptors on Saturday, and he finished with 16 points, four assists and four rebounds over 38 minutes while also committing 11 turnovers. Young has played through lower-body injuries all season, but if he's held out of Monday's contest, Garrison Mathews or Bogdan Bogdanovic could join Vit Krejci and Dyson Daniels in the starting lineup.
