Introduction

At Sorare, we’re committed to continuously enhancing our gameplay experience. After reviewing Sorare NBA Pro’s competitions, we’ve identified a few areas to improve for the rest of the season: gameplay rules, rewards, and Special Weeklies.

We’re making adjustments to Underdog and Contender caps to add more excitement each Game Week. Additionally, we know Special Weeklies are very important to inject more dynamism and utility for our Managers’ galleries. We’re committing to bringing them back for the rest of the season, along with an improved rewards pool.

In aggregate, we’ve added rewards across competitions to ensure Managers feel accomplished after a hard-fought Game Week. These include Pro Cards, Cash/ETH, official NBA items, and Primary Market Credits.

These updates are part of our ongoing efforts to deliver the best Sorare NBA experience, and they will be implemented starting with Game Week 29 (Feb. 2-4).

With these changes, we are laying the groundwork for further improvements. We are committed to bettering the rewards pool and will introduce additional enhancements to ensure our community enjoys an even more rewarding experience.

Read on below for more details!

Updates to Underdog, Contender, and Champion

Our adjustments in gameplay and rewards are designed to encourage both horizontal and vertical progression through scarcities. We want to provide a balanced pathway for Managers at all levels, fostering development and mastery.

Underdog

We want to transform Underdog into a more strategic competition that fosters progression, so we’re raising the points cap from 60 to 75.

  • Rewards: Designed to facilitate progression to Contender and Champion, we’ll reward Cards and Primary Market Credits. These are meant to help a Manager build a gallery that is competitive in Champion and Contender.
    • Limited: Card rewards are enhanced, with the addition of three (3) Tier 1 and seven (7) Tier 2 Limited Cards in the prize pool. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent).
    • Rare: Card rewards are enhanced, with the addition of one (1) Tier 1 and one (1) Tier 2 Rare Card to the prize pool. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent).

Underdog is now designed to be the entry point to a new scarcity for Managers looking to progress, while also offering seasoned Managers the tools to improve their galleries to compete in Contender and Champion.

Contender

The Contender points cap is being raised to 120. While there will still be no MVP, the increased cap allows Managers to fit in that extra difference-making player card, unlocking more excitement.

  • Rewards: Card rewards will be unchanged, still providing a launch pad to enter Champion competitions. Primary Market Credits will also be rewarded, further helping Managers acquire a Champion MVP.
    • Limited, Rare, & Super Rare: Card rewards unchanged. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent)

Champion

  • Format and Reward Adjustments: Champion remains at 120 points cap + MVP, with an adjustment of rewards:
    • Limited: Card rewards unchanged. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent).
    • Rare: Slightly reduced Card rewards that are now part of Rare Special Weeklies. We offset this by increasing Cash/ETH rewards $325. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent).
    • Super Rare: Card rewards unchanged. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent). Cash / ETH rewards increased $250.
    • Unique: Card rewards unchanged. Added Primary Market Credits to reward a larger share of Managers (20 percent).

Special Weeklies

We’re bringing back Special Weeklies for the rest of the season, adding an extra layer of excitement and strategy to your Sorare NBA experience. Plus, we’re using Special Weeklies as a testing ground for new and engaging gameplay that can one day turn into a permanent competition. Shaped by your participation and feedback, we want you to share your ideas for future Special Weeklies.

The first few editions of Special Weeklies will be ones that you’re familiar with. To get things started, we’re bringing back the Eastern Conference Special Weekly for Game Weeks 29 – 30. Western Conference Special Weeklies will return Game Weeks 31 – 32.

We improved rewards for these competitions as well, with the breakdown as follows:

NBA All-Star Game 2024

NBA All-Star Weekend 2024 is back on Sorare NBA, once again featuring a dedicated Special Weekly competition. This year, we’ll also release Special Edition cards to commemorate the events. Details will be revealed later this week!

Updates to Limited Tip-Off & Streetball

Limited Tip-Off, envisioned as a bridge for new Managers toward progression to scarcity competitions, has unfortunately been susceptible to exploitation. Recognizing this, we are implementing the following measures to uphold the integrity of this competition.

We’re updating the eligibility criteria. Once a Manager has owned five Pro Cards at any point, they will no longer be eligible for Limited Tip-Off. This change is crucial in maintaining a level playing field for genuine newcomers.

In addition to eligibility tweaks, we’re recalibrating the Limited scoring bonus to 20 percent, a decrease from 40 percent. This strategic adjustment is aimed at making the competition fair yet challenging, ensuring it remains attractive but not overly advantageous for manipulation.

These changes reflect our unwavering commitment to fair play and a balanced competitive environment. By addressing these issues head-on, we aim to maintain the spirit of progression and fair competition that Limited Tip-Off was designed to embody.

Finally, we’re altering the rewards to Streetball. While the competition offers more ways to set lineups, we want to make sure our other competitions are engaging and rewarding.

Conclusion

The revamped elements of Sorare NBA signifies more than just a response to feedback; it’s an evolution designed to cultivate the passion and excitement at the core of Sorare NBA. With these diverse competitions, refined parameters, and a focus on meaningful rewards, we aim to elevate your experience. Let’s keep building!
