UCL intact
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Sunday that scans of Gonsolin's injured right elbow showed that his UCL is intact, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis
Gonsolin underwent Tommy John surgery late in 2023, and there was concern about the health of his UCL when he experienced right elbow discomfort following his most recent start June 5. Despite the good news, Gonsolin will stop throwing for an undetermined period. He was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday, but it's not clear how long he will be out of action.

Lands on IL with elbow injury
The Dodgers placed Gonsolin on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right elbow discomfort, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Gonsolin last started Wednesday when he allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings in a loss to the Mets. The right-hander began the campaign on the IL due to a back injury, but this is the first word of Gonsolin dealing with an elbow issue. It's unclear how Los Angeles will immediately replace Gonsolin in the rotation, as the team activated a pair of relievers -- Michael Kopech (shoulder) and Kirby Yates (hamstring) -- from the IL on Saturday.

Gets little run support in loss
Gonsolin (3-2) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out six batters over five innings.
Analysis
In Gonsolin's previous start, he served up four home runs but was still able to earn a victory behind a potent Dodgers offense. The right-hander had a better stat line Wednesday with only one long ball and two earned runs allowed, but Los Angeles didn't score until the ninth frame, saddling Gonsolin with his second loss of the campaign. There were some positive takeaways despite the defeat, as he racked up an impressive 17 whiffs and tied a season-low mark with three hits allowed. He's still struggling with his control, though, as Gonsolin has walked multiple batters in six straight starts and has a poor 5.4 K/9 over 30 innings during that span.
