Getting MRI for forearm
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after Monday's 6-3 win over the Padres that Miller (forearm) is scheduled to undergo an MRI, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Analysis
Miller wasn't known to be nursing an injury before the Diamondbacks surprisingly placed him on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right forearm strain. The extent of the injury won't be fully known until his MRI results are in, but Lovullo noted that his concern level for Miller was "not low, something right in the middle." Before hitting the shelf, Miller had settled in as the Diamondbacks' closer after A.J. Puk (elbow) and Justin Martinez (elbow) required season-ending Tommy John surgeries, notching 10 saves while compiling a 1.98 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 36.1 innings. While Miller was out Monday, Kevin Ginkel stepped in to notch the save, though Lovullo suggested that the Diamondbacks' closer situation will be dictated by matchups until Miller returns, per Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona.

Hits IL with forearm strain
Arizona placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right forearm strain.
Analysis
Miller fired a scoreless frame in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Royals but evidently suffered the injury at some point along the way. He'll be eligible to be reinstated shortly after the All-Star break, though he'll likely undergo further imaging on his forearm before the Diamondbacks offer up a clearer timetable for his return. Juan Morillo was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Jalen Beeks appears next in line for save chances, though Kevin Ginkel and Kyle Backhus could also factor into the mix while Arizona deals with several key injuries in the bullpen.

Saddled with loss
Miller (3-3) took the loss Wednesday against San Francisco, allowing an unearned run on one hit over one inning.
Analysis
After Ketel Marte's two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth tied the ballgame, Miller took the mound for the top of the tenth and allowed an infield single to Heliot Ramos that advanced the automatic runner to third. Patrick Bailey plated the automatic runner with a sacrifice fly before Miller induced a double play. Arizona couldn't scrape a run across in the bottom half, resulting in a tough-luck loss for Miller. In his last six outings, the right-hander has allowed two runs (one earned) with nine strikeouts and no walks across 6.1 innings. He has a 2.04 ERA this season and should continue operating as Arizona's primary closer.
