Blasts eighth homer in win

Refsnyder went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Athletics.

Analysis

Refsnyder stretched Boston's early lead to 4-0 in the first inning. The outfielder has gone 6-for-20 (.300) over six games in September while continuing to play primarily in a short-side platoon role. He's been strong with that kind of usage throughout the season, supplying a .281/.361/.500 slash line with eight homers, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored, three stolen bases and 11 doubles over 183 plate appearances this season.

Replaces injured teammate in RF

Refsnyder started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 loss to Cleveland.

Analysis

Refsnyder replaced the injured Roman Anthony (oblique) in right field, although he would have been in the starting lineup somewhere, as Boston faced left-hander Joey Cantillo. Anthony's injury, which he believes is a Grade 2 strain, could keep him out of action for between four and six weeks. That injury, and the lingering rehab for Wilyer Abreu (calf), means Refsnyder could see additional opportunities, even against right-handers.
