Slugs homer No. 10

Busch went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Tigers.

Analysis

The first baseman crushed a Keider Montero changeup 414 feet down the right-field line in the fifth inning, the first of three Chicago long balls off the Detroit right-hander and one of five Cubs homers on the day. Busch has gone yard four times in his last five starts while hitting safely in eight straight games, pushing his slash line on the season to .276/.377/.521 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 60 contests.

Getting breather Friday

Busch is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.

Analysis

Busch will get the night off Friday against ace lefty Tarik Skubal, after making four straight starts at first base. The 27-year-old Busch is riding a seven-game hit streak, and he's 10-for-23 with two homers and a 4:3 BB:K during that stretch. Justin Turner will bat eighth and play first base Friday.

Leads charge Tuesday

Busch went 3-for-4 with a walk, a triple, a home run, an additional run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Nationals.

Analysis

Busch was the only Chicago player with multiple hits as he powered the lineup from the No. 5 spot. The infielder is now riding a modest five-game hitting streak, and he's been good all season with nine home runs, 36 RBI and an .895 OPS through 56 games. The OPS would easily be a new career best for the 27-year-old.
