Brings home three runs

Shaw went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Analysis

Shaw's two-run homer in the seventh inning extended the Cubs' lead to three, and he brought home another run after drawing a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. Shaw has come out of the All-Star break with an eight-game hit streak, going 11-for-23 (.478) with four home runs, nine RBI and two steals over that span.

On bench Friday

Shaw isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Analysis

Shaw has been red hot coming out of the All-Star break, posting a six-game hit streak and going 9-for-19 (.474) with three homers. He'll get what appears to be a night off Friday to start off a three-game set against the White Sox. Vidal Brujan will play third base instead.

Post-break surge continues

Shaw went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Royals.

Analysis

The rookie took Steven Cruz deep in the seventh inning, Shaw's fifth homer of the season and third in the last five games. He's batting .474 (9-for-19) since the All-Star break, adding two steals, four runs and six RBI to his long balls, but he still has a lot of work to do to climb out of the hole he dug prior to the Midsummer Classic -- over his last 25 games before the break, Shaw slashed a woeful .107/.198/.147.

Stays hot Tuesday

Shaw went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Royals. He also stole a base.

Analysis

Shaw has now collected hits in five straight games coming out of the All-Star break, and three of those have been multi-hit efforts. The rookie has been up and down this season, though he's managed to string together a few hot streaks here and there. Shaw has also been solid on the bases with 13 steals in 15 attempts. The young infielder may be susceptible to slumps at the plate, but his talent is evident.

Smashes home run Monday

Shaw went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 12-4 loss to the Royals.

Analysis

Shaw is showing some signs of life lately, as he's now riding a modest four-game hitting streak, and he's gone 6-for-11 during the stretch. The rookie is still batting just .216 overall, and the Cubs may target a veteran third baseman before the trade deadline as his replacement, but Shaw does have the talent to get hot. His fantasy value is higher in dynasty formats at the moment, though the 23-year-old could still deliver some production down the stretch this year depending on his role.
